How to open a Robinhood account, invest, and reach support.

An app-centered broker many first-time U.S. investors use for individual brokerage accounts, IRAs, and listed stocks and ETFs.

Robinhood is a U.S. brokerage people usually meet through its mobile app. A new customer creates login credentials, verifies identity, and can then open a self-directed brokerage account. The firm also offers retirement accounts. The application is completed with Robinhood, on Robinhood’s own site or app.

Northline can walk you through what the screens are asking for and how to reach Robinhood’s own support. We cannot see your Robinhood account, approve an application, or reverse a trade.

Support for brokerage issues is handled in the app or at robinhood.com. Robinhood warns customers not to trust support phone numbers found in search ads.

What to have ready

  • Your legal name, date of birth, U.S. residential address, email, and mobile number.
  • A Social Security number, entered only on Robinhood’s site or app.
  • Employment, income, and investing-experience answers. Brokers collect these for identity and account rules.
  • A government ID if the app asks for a photo check.
  • A U.S. bank account when you are ready to deposit money.

Create the account

  1. 01

Start on Robinhood’s own app or site

Install the app from the official store or type robinhood.com yourself. Leave any look-alike page that asks you to “verify” a Robinhood login.

  2. 02

    Create the login and profile

Enter your email, create a password, and add your legal name, date of birth, address, and phone. Turn on two-factor authentication and keep the password to yourself.

  3. 03

    Submit identity details to Robinhood

Provide your Social Security number on Robinhood’s form and answer the employment and investor-profile questions. Review the customer agreement before you submit.

  4. 04

    Finish verification

Complete any ID photo or follow-up Robinhood requests. Approval is Robinhood’s decision. A delay usually means they need another document, not that a third party can speed it up.

  5. 05

    Link a bank and fund

Use the bank-link steps inside the app. Deposits by bank transfer often take a few business days, and Robinhood may let you invest a portion before the transfer settles. Read the funding screen so you know what is available to withdraw.

How to invest once the account is funded

  1. 01

    Search the symbol

From the app, search the company or ETF ticker. Read the name next to the symbol so you do not buy a similarly named security.

  2. 02

Choose buy, then the order type

A market order seeks the next available price. A limit order trades only at your price or better, and it may not fill. Start with an amount you can afford to leave invested.

  3. 03

    Review and submit

Check the side (buy or sell), quantity, and estimated amount. Submit only when the review screen matches what you intended. Orders can fill immediately during market hours.

  4. 04

    Keep the confirmation

Robinhood records the fill in your history. That history is the record you will want if you later contact their support about that trade.

How to reach Robinhood and open a ticket

The steps below create a case with Robinhood. They are not the same as a Northline support ticket. Use Robinhood when the money or the login is theirs. Use Northline when you want the path explained first.

  1. 01

    Log in yourself

Open the Robinhood app or robinhood.com. Do not use a phone number from a search ad. Robinhood’s own scam guidance says to start at the app or robinhood.com/contact.

  2. 02

    Open support

Go to Account, then Menu or Help, and choose Robinhood Support or Contact us. Pick the topic closest to the problem: deposits, withdrawals, a trade, login, or documents.

  3. 03

    Send the case

Describe what happened, the date, and any amount involved. Attach a screenshot if the flow allows it. Continue by chat, or request a call when that topic offers one.

  4. 04

    If you cannot log in

Use the help path on robinhood.com/contact. Robinhood also publishes support@robinhood.com for people who cannot access the account. Still do not send your password.

Questions about this firm

Can Northline open the Robinhood account for me?

No. You submit the application to Robinhood. We can explain the questions on the form before you do.

Is a Northline ticket the same as a Robinhood ticket?

No. A ticket on this website reaches our education desk. Robinhood only sees a case you create in their app or on their site.

Which phone number should I call?

For a problem with your brokerage account, start in the app. Robinhood says the 650-761-7789 line is general information only, and 888-275-8523 is limited to crypto, spending, and the cash card.

Want these Robinhood steps walked through with you?

Open a ticket with our education desk, or ask for a consultation on account setup. We explain the steps and point you to the firm’s own support. We do not take logins, place trades, hold money, or hold crypto.

Get help with the step you are on.

Answer a few short questions. You will get a Northline ticket number on this page, and a reply from our desk in 3–4 hours. This does not open a case at a broker or a crypto exchange, and it is not a promise of profit.
